The Kingdom began to develop the country's largest gold mine amid a general trend of increased mining.
Ma'aden Abdulazis Al-Harbi, CEO of the mining company Future Investment Initiative, noted that the new mine will be the largest in their history. The mine is located in the Mecca region. Renewable energy accounts for 13% of the total need. At the same time, there are plans to increase this indicator.
According to forecasts, 250 thousand ounces of gold and silver can be mined per year.
At the moment, the Kingdom produces about 400 thousand ounces at five mines that have been developed over the past 10 years, but the authorities want to increase this figure.
